pemberdayaan perempuan dan pengembangan kepemimpinan untuk demokratisasi
This workshop, held in Chiang Mai, Thailand in 2013 was organized by IWE, in collaboration with Linksbridge, to inventarise initiatives on wellbeing, self-care and integrated security. This workshop was the basis upon which IWE developed the work on Wellbeing, Self-care and Integrated Security (WeSIS) with their partners in Indonesia, which they went on to integrate into the WELDD programme.
IWE has been excited but humbled by the affirmation they received from their partners - it has confirmed the ‘hypothesis’ that this is a much-needed process. Each community needed a different focus, depending on its context, life experiences and needs: for some it was acknowledging the importance of “wellbeing” in general, for others it was like receiving “permission” to utilise scarce resources to comfort and care for themselves. Yet again, for those living on the frontlines of resistance and struggle against oppressive forces, “security” took on a new and life-affirming meaning.
All hailed enthusiastically the consciousness of a different way of being and doing, of a possibility of a different “culture of activism” - one that is sustainable, and that is transformative, not in the last place, of themselves.
